Where darkness meets light.
A new vision by Pierpaolo Piccioli.

01

Winter enters the shadows.
And light begins to emerge.

For Winter 2026, Balenciaga presents ClairObscur, a campaign photographed by Robin Galiegue and shaped around a striking dialogue between darkness and light.

Dara Gueye, Liu Wen and Anok Yai become the three presences within this theatrical tableau, where fashion appears to emerge from the shadows to reveal its volume, texture and brilliance.

BETWEEN LIGHT
& SHADOW

THE VISION

Renaissance
meets modernity.

Pierpaolo Piccioli draws from the visual language of the High Renaissance — its dramatic contrasts, sculpted bodies and emotionally charged drapery — and translates it into the contemporary Balenciaga vocabulary.

Historical references are not reproduced literally. Instead, they become a foundation for a collection where structure and freedom exist side by side.

The architecture of the garment becomes one of the collection’s defining principles.

Hooded jackets, pea coats and bomber jackets create powerful volumes, amplified by dramatically high collars and rounded shoulders.

Refined leather, shearling, enveloping wool and sequin-embroidered satin capture and reflect light, transforming the silhouette into something between protection, cocoon and sculpture.

THE DETAILS

Sculpted volume

Rounded shoulders, high collars and generous proportions give the silhouettes an almost architectural presence.

Light-catching textures

Leather, shearling, wool and sequined satin create a rich dialogue between matte surfaces, shine and movement.

The contrast

Dark neutrals are interrupted by vibrant, tangy and almost electric flashes of color, creating the collection’s signature tension.

Precious accents

Gold B-shaped earrings and delicate jewelry introduce subtle flashes of brilliance against the darker silhouettes.

LIGHT
INTO
DARKNESS

01

DARK NEUTRALS

Deep, protective tones create the dramatic foundation of the Winter 2026 wardrobe.

02

ELECTRIC ACCENTS

Vibrant, tangy hues appear almost unexpectedly, breaking through the darkness like flashes of light.

03

GOLDEN LIGHT

Gold hardware and B-shaped earrings introduce a precious glow to the otherwise shadowed palette.

04

SATIN REFLECTIONS

Glossy satin and sequins transform movement into light, adding a theatrical dimension to the silhouettes.

THE ACCESSORIES

Heritage,
reinvented.

Accessories continue the conversation between Balenciaga’s heritage and its new direction.

The Hourglass Avenue Bag revisits the iconic Hourglass silhouette, while the Le 7 Bowling Bag makes its debut for Winter 2026.

Named after Paris’s 7th arrondissement, Le 7 Bowling Bag is defined by its layered, enveloping construction — another expression of protection, movement and volume.

On the feet, the Bloom Pump and Midnight City Mule introduce a softer, more playful sensuality.

Their generous curves balance the architectural strength of the collection with a sense of ease.

Nothing is entirely demure.”

THE WINTER EDIT

Enter
the darkness.

But leave room for the light.

With ClairObscur, Balenciaga creates a winter wardrobe built around contrast: protection and freedom, structure and fluidity, matte and shine.

Under Robin Galiegue’s lens, the collection feels almost like a Renaissance painting brought into the present — dramatic, intimate and intensely modern.

For Winter 2026, darkness is not the absence of light. It is what allows the light to become visible.
